ExtendtheGreenline

Measure M was able to achieve over 70% voter support because every sub-region in LA County was given the promise of high-quality public transportation that serves their area. The South Bay is a transit "desert", and this project would help address issues of transit equity, create good-paying local jobs, address the existing jobs/housing imbalance, and reduce worsening congestion. In fact, Metro owns the right of way from the rail yards in Maywood all the way to the Por of LA - 26 miles - traversing the mostly densely populated communities in LA County. We should continue to extend this line until it reaches San Pedro and fulfill the promise of Measure M to create a public transportation system so that people of all ages and incomes can live, work, and thrive.

We need you to call in or attend in person to share your support for better public transit access!

TALKING POINTS

The Metro C Green Line Extension Project:

  • Allows for a one-seat ride between Torrance, LAX, Inglewood, Leimert Park, and further destinations along the Expo (E) Line. We want to see Metro extend this line even further--to West Hollywood and Hollywood in the North to San Pedro in the South. Metro owns the right-of-way and, if funding is available, could continue to extend this line to San Pedro and the Port of LA, serving some of the most densely populated communities in LA County and provided endless connecting opportunities.
  • Serves a "transit desert" in the South Bay that suffers from congested streets and a lack of rapid transportation options. According to the Transit Center’s Equity Dashboard, residents of the South Bay currently lack frequent transit service, which means fewer jobs are reachable via transit compared to other regions of LA. Providing frequent and reliable rail service to the South Bay will address this inequity.
  • Will serve between 11,500 and 15,600 daily project trips in 2042, similar to the Metro B (Red) and E (Expo) Line average daily boardings.
  • Has support for a majority of area residents in a randomized phone call poll.
  • Creates an estimated 9,000 local unionized construction jobs.

Thank You!
